ABOUT NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS

Narcotics Anonymous Barbados is an integral part of a global, community-based organization characterized by its diverse and multilingual membership. Established in 1953, the initial two decades witnessed modest growth; however, since the release of our Basic Text in 1983, there has been a remarkable surge in members and meetings. Presently, NA boasts close to 76,000 weekly meetings spread across 143 countries.

Our core mission is to facilitate recovery from addiction through the implementation of a comprehensive twelve-step program, with a primary emphasis on regular attendance at group meetings. The group dynamics foster a supportive environment where individuals receive assistance from peers, establishing a robust network for those committed to maintaining a drug-free lifestyle. It’s crucial to note that the term “Narcotics” in our name doesn’t narrow our focus to any specific substance; rather, NA’s approach extends inclusivity to all drugs, including alcohol.

Membership in NA is open to all and comes without any associated fees. Importantly, we maintain autonomy from external entities such as governments, religions, law enforcement agencies, and medical or psychiatric associations. Our dedication to service efforts and collaboration with like-minded organizations reflects our commitment to ensuring that every addict worldwide has the opportunity to embrace our message of recovery in their native language and cultural context.

In essence, Narcotics Anonymous strives towards a future where every addict, irrespective of their background, has the chance to encounter and benefit from our message of recovery.
